Kayaking Graham Creek and Beyond
You deserve a good paddle! Graham Creek offers a great canoe and kayak launch, and you couldn't ask for a better kayak trail. The launch is just beyond the large picnic pavillion and outdoor classroom. The route down Graham Creek is a meander through tall grasses that winds like a Tiki ride for about a mile, until it widens out into Graham Bayou.
You can kayak all the way to the mouth of the Bayou on Wolf Bay and back, which will take just under 2 hours (4 miles round trip). Along the way, you may see dolphin, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Great White Egret, Purple Martins, Pelicans and Redwing Black Birds. White spider lilies line the creek. They're usually in bloom in June and July.
For a bigger adventure, the City of Foley has created a one-way kayak trail that leads from Wolf Creek to the launch at Graham Creek Preserve. To get to the Wolf Creek launch, take County Road 20 east from the Foley Beach Expressway. Go right on Wilson Road, then right on Hance Lane and follow the signs. You can drop a car off at the Graham Creek launch, and then take your kayak to the Wolf Creek launch and do a one-way trip, which is four miles.
Don't have a kayak? Just type kayak rental into Google maps and it'll come up with several very close by, and some of them deliver to the launch!
