Who will Speak for Earth?
“Silence is the most beautiful of all sounds.”
~ Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Kotzk
It is November in coastal Alabama, and things are quiet. If you walk through the forest in November, you will be blanketed in silence. The birds are not so busy as they are in spring, and many have left for South or Central America by now. The bees are not so busy, but they are still doing their work. Soon, migrations from the north will bring visitors, but they are not arriving yet.
Slowly walking along trails in nature can awaken the heart, whether alone or with companions. As you move along, you can tap into your true self. Like all the things around you in nature, you have potential. You can grow and change and evolve by following your deepest dreams.
We all have a role to play in the wonderful workings of life on earth.

Reflecting on the way of bees – fellow creatures of life – we see that among some bees, among some hives, it is common to send out a number of their members in search of nectar (flowers, clover, etc.), nectar being essential to sustaining the bees’ life processes, their life itself. After discovering a “patch” of nectar, the bee returns to the hive, at which time other bees of the hive engage the returning member in a process often thought of as a dance… a dance involving the many… an intricate, an elaborate, an intentional pattern. It is through this dance that understanding and knowledge are generated – a mind is created – that not only exceeds the “brain power” of a single bee, but also exceeds the understanding and knowledge brought in by the returning bee.
